The Persons With Disabilities Act, 1995, encourages companies to employ 5 per cent of the differently-abled people. Latest studies reveal that approximately 6% of the total population in India is differently-abled, but only a 0.4% of total workforce across 100 surveyed companies is differently-abled. Out of a total of 0.4%, the public sector figure is 0.5%, private sector is 0.2% and MNC is 0.05%.
